Monochrome Living Room

Welcome to my 50 Shades of Grey living room 🙂 I kept it monochrome in one color, but played with different textures such as velvet and linen materials, as well as mirrored and acrylic accents. My favorite thing about my apartment is that all walls are covered by handmade wallcovering from It gives it a warm chic look and it is also very practical since they are washable.

Tufted velvet sectional with acrylic legs was custom made by an amazing Modshop

Breton Stripes

Love wearing breton stripes, aka sailor stripe tops with everything. But lately love wearing it with camel/ beige tones. Breton stripes are always in style and should be a staple in every wardrobe. Here are few options I like from Asos / NastyGal / Topshop / Ralph Lauren /

To complete my look: Shoes / Bag / Camel Coat

PS extremely by accident I matched the window display of MaxMara store which had the whole collection in those colors 🙂

Tulum beach

Tulum is probably one of the most unexpected places I’ve been to. Maybe it has to do with me always preparing and spending hours on a Tripadvisor on what to see, where to eat and what to do before all my vacations, unlike this time I completely went with the flow and let the road lead me, literally. Before I turned to the shore road packed with ecofriendly resorts, yoga retreats and chic restaurants all serving green juices I actually stopped at the gas station to ask which way is Tulum beach. And what a surprise it was. It is the most spiritually abundant little beach towns I’ve ever experienced. Whether you want to deepen your yoga practice or just enjoy pristine beach and catch some good vibes, Tulum is the place to visit. People are happy and relaxed, food is healthy and delicious, water is warm and healing. Everywhere you turn there’s a reminder that life is beautiful, that all we need is love, and we should stop thinking, breath deeper and enjoy the moment.
Places worth checking out:
  1. Casa Violetta – my most favorite place in Tulum. It’s a beach club, a restaurant, a yoga retreat. It’s so beautiful, simple, bright and serene that you can’t help but fall in love. Food is delicious, views are breathtaking. This is a type of place that is memorable to share with your loved one and also great to be alone at. This is a place where you can sip a green juice, think about life and write a postcard to a friend (or a blog post to your followers ;), all while enjoying the sights, sounds and smells of the ocean.
  1. Be Tulum – also a great place to spend quality time with your loved ones or a solo gateway. You can enjoy delicious food on the gorgeous ceramic plates, sip coconut water or a ginger tea, take a swim in the ocean or a pool, and stay late into the night enjoying the music, it’s adults only place.
  1. Aura Beach Club – relaxed spot to hang our if you are not staying in the hotel, but in the condo like I did. It is also kids friendly, unlike other places that are all about peace and quiet. The beach is gorgeous, my kids enjoyed riding the waves while me and my husband enjoyed fresh fish ceviche and mojitos.
There are so many other open air restaurants and beach clubs that you can try out. To get around town you can walk, rent a bike or a cute colorful vintage VWs. There are a lot of boutiques selling organic cotton t-shirts or crystal jewelry. To go with the scene everyone is dressed in easy going flowy dresses, colorful kaftans or crochet jumpers. This is just such a great get-away-from-crazy-busy-life place which I highly recommend visiting.

Yoga Retreat

As mentioned in my other post, Tulum is a perfect place to practice yoga and meditation, all while taking in the sights, scents and sounds of the nearby ocean.  There are many places that you can go on a group yoga retreat for a week and others that offer a walk-in if you just like to take a yoga class or have a spa treatment. Here are my picks:
1. Maya Tulum resort retreat – this eco-resort is a perfect place to rest and recharge. You can stay there “all-inclusive” in a cabana right by the ocean, eat deliciously healthy food, deepen your yoga and meditation practice, get spa treatments and energy treatments like Reiki.
2. Uno Astrolodge is very charming rustic resort that offers yoga classes and delicious food right on the beach.
3. Amansala – wellness-focused beach hotel that also looks very chic and trendy (rumor has it the owner is former New Yorker). Situated on amazing beach, decorated in bright pink colors, offers spa treatments, bikini boot camps and relaxing yoga classes.
All these places offer overnight accommodations as well as open to walk-ins like myself, who took yoga classes and spa treatments.

Mayan Ruins

Mayan ruins in Tulum are located on the edge of the cliff and used to serve as a seaport. The site is very well preserved and the views are breathtaking.
